Couples & Relationships – Counselling

Counselling for all couples, whatever your gender, sexuality, or relationship structure, at any stage of your partnership.

You may have come here because your relationship feels challenging, leaving you uncertain, overwhelmed, or unsure of what to do next. Some couples want support in working things through, while others want guidance in navigating a separation thoughtfully.

You might feel generally happy together but notice areas that feel stuck or difficult, or feel that your relationship works well but want to reconnect or feel closer again.

Some couples seek support around big life decisions — deciding on schools, moving home, relocating, employment changes, financial worries, balancing work and family, or planning for the future — moments that can feel heavy, stressful, or hard to navigate alone.

Couples hands

Couples counselling offers a space to:

  • Understand patterns of communication that aren’t working
  • Navigate life transitions, including becoming an empty nest couple
  • Rebuild trust after a breach, including affairs
  • Reconnect and strengthen your partnership

Sessions are supportive, collaborative, and tailored to you. I don’t take sides or tell you what to do — my role is to hold space for both of you, helping you feel understood, explore your options and find practical ways forward, whether that means improving or rebuilding your relationship, or managing a break-up in a way that supports each person’s needs.

How it works:

An initial first session to see if you both feel comfortable in counselling and with each other is a good way to start the journey without further commitment.

I will not tell you whether to stay together or leave each other but will work with you collaboratively to facilitate change in your relationship.

Couples/relationship counselling sessions will generally take place weekly or fortnightly and last for one hour — although it is not uncommon to agree to longer in the first few sessions if you are in crisis. I will always try to accommodate as much as possible.

Individual Relationship Counselling

Support, clarity, and understanding for anyone exploring their relationship(s).

Individual relationship counselling is for anyone who wants compassionate support in reflecting on and making sense of their relationship(s), whether you are single, your partner is not attending, or you want to better understand your patterns, feelings or ways of relating.

  • Feeling heartbroken, unhappy, or generally stressed in your relationship(s)
  • Struggling with trust, jealousy, or emotional hurt
  • Noticing repeating patterns or unintentionally sabotaging your connection(s)
  • Finding it difficult to communicate, set boundaries, or manage conflict
  • Unsure about decisions in your relationship(s), or wondering whether to stay or leave
  • Feeling less confident, secure, or valued in your connection(s), or always the one hurt or sidelined

Whatever the reasons, therapy can help you explore your feelings, understand your needs and notice what matters most to you. I offer a compassionate, empathetic presence as you reflect, gain insight and find clarity in your relationship(s).

Non-Romantic Relationship Counselling

Support and reflection for anyone considering their role in a non-romantic relationship.

This counselling is for people attending together or on their own, to explore their role and experience in a relationship. It can include parent and adult child, siblings, friends, or colleagues and is for anyone who wants to better understand themselves and the dynamics in their relationship(s).

  • Exploring your role and contribution in the relationship(s)
  • Noticing patterns in communication and exploring each other’s perspectives
  • Working through conflicts or understanding differences that have been challenging
  • Considering ways to collaborate, connect and strengthen understanding
  • Reflecting on how to manage tensions and interact more effectively

Please do not hesitate to contact me and we can discuss the next steps in confidence.
